Earnest at 10 months

Earnest is 10 months old today.  

10 months old, as in 2 months from being One. Year. Old.  My, oh my!  

There have been so many changes this month.  He's a crawler, a fast one at that!  He is pulling himself up on furniture, his toy piano, and even Josh and me :). More teeth are working there way in.  It's a good thing too because the kid likes to eat.  He loves trying new things!  A few of his recent favorite finger foods have been: pasta "o"'s, peas, bananas, avocado, green pepper, and "pancakes" (I just mashed a banana, mixed with an egg yolk and 1 T of oatmeal.  I then pan fried it in coconut oil).


This month has been the best Earnest (and Josh and I) have slept since he's been born!  We did some sleep training after Ernie's 9 month appointment.  He was getting up a little more than he needed to during the night. He now nurses then goes to bed between 6:00-7:00pm.  He nurses once more between 9:30-11:00.  He then sleeps soundly until morning!  He wakes up around 6 each morning.  I've noticed that since the sun rises earlier he's been waking up earlier too.  Today, it was 5:20.  We may need to get some darker shades :).  We have been very thankful for the extra sleep we've been getting.


Ernie loves to be outside.  He just recently tried out the swing at his friends' house.  He adored it!  He really liked hanging out with the boys too:).  They were very welcoming.  They shared.  They gave kisses and hugs.  And they even pushed him on the swing!


Another one of Earnest's favorite things is anything small.  If it's small, he'll love it.  He loves hinges, door stops, door bells, buttons, and zippers.  He found the door stop one day a few weeks back.  He laid on his belly boinging the stop for over 5 minutes!  I think he likes seeing how things work.  Maybe he'll be an engineer like his papa:). 

He is so much fun!  We just love getting to know him more and more.  He is a special little boy.  We love our Earnest!

so much to celebrate

They spoiled me rotten yesterday.  I got to spend the morning with my absolute favorite guys.  Breakfast was made by my husband, and laundry put away by him too :).  Later, my mother-in-law and sister-in-laws (and grandma too!) came for a visit.  They gave me the cutest mug and colander and brought a delicious latte and lunch!  It is always nice to spend time with these ladies; they spent the rest of the afternoon with Ernie Boy and Josh while I went to photograph a wedding.  It was a gorgeous day to celebrate so much love. I thought the day couldn't get any better when Gemma surprised with me a beautiful handmade headband and Josh with a Keurig when I came home!  The rest of the evening was spent drinking decaf from my new mug as I uploaded wedding photos.  It was a Mother's Day to be remembered, that's for sure. 

This weekend we also went to the Farmer's Market.  I love the market.  Earnest loved it too!  He rode in the Baby Bjorn (thanks for lending it to us Meg!) while we walked around.  At nine months, he's a very busy boy.  His arms are constantly in motion.  I heard a woman at Target yesterday comment to her husband, "Look at that baby.  It looks as if he's trying to fly!" :).  He has been army crawling all over the place and got his first tooth!  He loves chasing Cheerios, playing peek-a-boo, and reading stories.  He loves watching papa come through the door after work.  He's usually eating dinner at that time and will stop eating as soon as he hears the key hit the lock.  It's the cutest thing as his face lights up and he giggles and gives dad a big gummy grin.  My heart melts every time, still.  We are so thankful for these 9 months with our ever-changing boy.  

Earnest at 8 months

What a busy month it has been!  Ernie Boy has enjoying it all!  He has loved: spring walks in the stroller, grocery shopping, sitting on the porch and watching the cars go by, laughing at the silliest things (especially wild games of peek-a-boo), and going to a wedding celebration!  He has even started "talking".  He says "mama" and "dada" even though he's not quite sure what he's saying yet :).  We love our little Earnest!

seven months

Hello!  I wanted to tell you about my life lately.  

I'm getting getting to be a big boy, literally.  At my last doctor appointment mama and I were informed that I am in the 97th percentile for height and head circumference!  Papa says it's because I've got a lot of brains in there :).  I'm in the 80th percentile for weight.  I sure like to eat.  All sorts of things these days.  I'm eating two meals a day.  I've tried avocados, oatmeal, rice cereal, sweet potatoes, bananas, peas, and pears.  I really like avocados and sweet potatoes!  

Here are a few other things I like:

 I love being outdoors.  Mama has been thankful for the mild weather this winter.  
She bundles me all up and we go for walks.

 I still prefer to take naps on the big boy bed.  

Though mom and pop are trying to get me to take more naps in my crib.

 Speaking of naps, I don't really prefer those either.  

 My favorite naps are taken next to papa.

 I love it when he comes home!    

I know it's time to wrestle then!

 I really like my toes.  They taste pretty good.

 I like to pose for pictures too.

 I love to read books.

 Mama and Daddy dedicated me to God at church this month.  

They always tell me stories and sing songs about Jesus.  

They pray that I will love Him with my whole heart!

One of my favorite things is spending time with my family.  

I love spending time with my grandparents (mom forgot to snap a photo of me with them)!  

These are photos of my great-grandparents; they came to visit me last weekend!

six months

Hello Friends,
These past six months have been glorious.  Sleepless nights, tasting new foods, belly laughs, breakthroughs, and heart melting kinds of glorious.  We love our little boy.  He brings sunshine to our lives and we are thankful to God for each hour.

He loves when Papa comes home from work.  He smiles when he hears his voice greeting us from the door.

 Ernie is getting so strong!  He often props himself up on his straightened arms.  We think he is going to crawl soon.

Ernie loves to play and be silly.  The sillier, the better.  One of our favorite things is hearing his belly laugh!

5 months

Here are a few of my favorite things as of late...

I sure have enjoyed this winter weather, haven't you?  I LOVE putting on my bear suit, getting strapped into the baby Bjorn and heading out for a brisk walk.  A shout out to my guys Carson and Coleman for lending me both the cool blue suit and the Bjorn :).

I also enjoyed my first Christmas!  It was great falling asleep in grandpa's arms, listening to Christmas music, unwrapping presents, and looking at the twinkling lights on the tree.  I also learned that Jesus was a baby just like me; that's pretty amazing.

 One of my very favorite things this month was meeting a new friend!  

Her name is Lainey and I think she is really great.

 I had so much fun this month meeting new people, laughing at papa, finding my toes, and splashing in the bath.  I have been just taking everything in with a big smile on my face!

hello again!

 I love playing on my activity mat (thanks grandpa and grandma for the fun gift!).  I bat at the toys and I can even grasp the rings now! 

special guest post

I love playing.  I REALLY love playing with my keys and making faces at momma and dad.  They are always making silly noises and staring at me.  I stare right back though :).

I guess you could call me a "people person".  I'm quite content being held all the day long.  

I love my family.

Another one of my favorite things is going on walks.  

The bright colored leaves sure are nice to look at.  Daddy's a pretty handsome guy to look at too :).

 By the end of our walks I'm usually pretty exhausted.  The fresh air really takes it out of me.
