Gemma's Senior Photos

What a refreshing weekend at the cabin...good family time, delicious food, baking, knitting and photography.  My kind of weekend.  Saturday afternoon was spent outdoors enjoying the autumn sunshine and taking Miss Gemma's senior photos.

a long weekend

In less than one hour we will be packing up the car and driving north for the weekend.  I love the cabin this time of year!  The leaves may be past their peak but it will still be beautiful.  It's also sweatshirt weather; my favorite!  I'm looking forward to board games, books, and baking an apple pie :).  I'm also eager to take Jemimah's senior photos.

an autumn outing

This past weekend was predicted to be the last stretch of warm days before the chill sets in.  We took full advantage of the weather by heading to the Minnetonka Apple Orchard.

 Ernie Boy went on his first hay ride.

We also enjoyed donuts and apple cider brats...mmmm.

Ernie loved looking at the trees and the people picking apples.  He also loved snuggling close to papa in the Bjorn :).

There are so many things I love about autumn.  Going to the orchard is high on that list.

a father's love

Dear Papa,
Looking at these photos makes me tear up a bit.  The way your strong hands hold our son gently, the proud smile you wear; it all hits me at once sometimes.  You are an incredible father.  Watching you step into this role has made me love you even more. Thank you for all of the ways you provide for, care for, and love our little family.  Thank you for giving me a better understanding of how great the Father's love for us must be.

I did it!

I baked something (that didn't come from a box) for the first time since Ernie was born!  Bananas were turning brown on the kitchen counter so the decision was easy...you guessed it, banana bread.  My mom has the best recipe.  I'll let you be the judge though :).

   Best enjoyed with a really good cup of coffee :).
I tried out my new french press (a birthday gift from my parents)...love!

special guest post

I love playing.  I REALLY love playing with my keys and making faces at momma and dad.  They are always making silly noises and staring at me.  I stare right back though :).

I guess you could call me a "people person".  I'm quite content being held all the day long.  

I love my family.

Another one of my favorite things is going on walks.  

The bright colored leaves sure are nice to look at.  Daddy's a pretty handsome guy to look at too :).

 By the end of our walks I'm usually pretty exhausted.  The fresh air really takes it out of me.
